Herbs and plants have been used by humans for centuries, possibly thousands of years: for medication, as an intoxicant, as flavour enhancers in food and to eat. For a long time those in the know were persecuted or charged with heresy (witches), extolled (druids) and unwillingly worshipped (shamans).
